And Then Comes Baby!

One of my close friends, (and soon to be Grandma!), asked me to create this cute bassinet cake for her expecting daughter's baby shower. I think it turned out stinking cute!
She sent me pictures of what she wanted and this is what I came up with.

She also asked me to make sure I added a giraffe somewhere on the cake...

and a cute little butterfly.

Here is the back of the Bassinet.

And a view of the other side of the bassinet.
The cake flavors were a Snow White Vanilla Cake with a Strawberry Swirl Swiss Meringue Buttercream filling and Ganache, covered in a homemade fondant.
I had so much fun making this cake, especially for my sweet friends, and helping them celebrate this special time in their lives welcoming this new precious baby to the family.
This is why I do what I do, I love making people happy with cake.

Next week I will be working on a tutorial so stay tuned!
And until next time... KEEP CAKING!

  1. You are great! Still wish you could have did one for my shower. I tried to push for it- didn't work out :-(

  2. Oh wow - this is an amazing cake idea! It is soooo cute!

  3. It looks like the top of the top curved part of the bassinet is gumpaste??? How did you get it to stay without it pulling the bassinet sides down? I can see how to do the rest of the cake just that curved part is throwing me for a loop.

  4. Another awesome creation, Maria! I am very intrigued and can't wait to see the tutorial!
